I have a couple Lamy 2000s. Before today, one of my Lamy 2000s had an extra fine nib which, despite being tuned and smoothed, wrote dry and scratchy and had been retired to my desk drawer. When I learned that Dan at Nibsmith was selling replacement nibs for the Lamy 2000, I thought I would take a chance buying a medium replacement nib – thinking I could always send it in for adjustment if necessary. I am really happy I took that chance because the pen, with the replacement nib, now writes better than all of my other fountain pens – including my Pelikan 605 and 805. It writes so well, in fact, that I just purchased another medium replacement nib to replace the existing medium nib on my other Lamy 2000.

I have several fountain pens and just purchased a Lamy 2000. I purchased a broad nib because I typically enjoy the smoothness, but the Lamy 2000 broad proved too much for me. I found the NibSmith and was able to purchase a medium nib, for a very good price, for my new Lamy along with the ‘tuned and smoothed’ treatment. It is FANTASTIC! It writes so smooth… I forget I am writing with a fountain pen. Dan did a great job and the order was shipped within a day or two. Easy order, easy payment, fast service. Outstanding customer service! I will definitely be back.

While doing some journaling recently I inadvertently dropped my LAMY2000 and as fate would have it the nib took the the full brunt of the fall effectively rendering it a piece of 14 karat junk. I was never too thrilled with how the nib wrote in the first place. I was panicked because of how difficult it is to get nibs for this pen.
I first went to the LAMY USA site but ruled that out after researching some YouTube videos. I also looked on eBay. This is where I believe I found Dan. I immediately placed an order for a medium nib with the tune and smooth option..The 3 to 5 day shipping I thought was reasonable and as fate would have it the nib arrived a day early.
I installed the new nib, inked it up and immediately noticed the difference with Dan’s nib. It was smooth as glass, the notorious sweet spot had all but disappeared and it wrote like a true medium nib.
What I can’t understand is why LAMY would would sell their their trademark pen with such a poorly tuned nib in the first place. Dan’s nib is so far superior to the stock nib-no comparison.
So if your looking for a new or replacement nib for your LAMY2000 look no further than right here.
Oh, yes. Even with Dan’s superior care in packaging the nib came in for LESS $$$ THAN LAMY USA wanted.
