This Montegrappa Extra 1930 Turtle Brown pen is made of the most beautiful celluloid material I’ve ever seen – the dark brown, caramel, and golden hues swirl and blend together in an iridescence that exceeds any product description. The colors seem to almost glow from within, regardless of the lighting. This pen shows why one pays the premium for celluloid! The fine nib writes a smooth wet line with no pressure, thanks to the superb nib work by Dan. The pen is heavier than some German and Japanese similarly-sized pens, probably because it’s a piston-filler with a sterling silver section and cap band, but the weight isn’t a detraction as the pen glides across the paper. The celluloid warms to the writer’s touch and makes it a unique treasure to use. Dan’s customer service is timely and responsive; his nib work is consistently top notch. Highly recommended for any fountain pen purchase!
