The first in the South Of France series, the Nice, is an extraordinary example of the style, craftsmanship and advanced ingenuity of Platinum Pens.

The transparent resin is sandblasted, then repeating vertical lines are cut around the cap and barrel to provide a unique feel and invoke the essence of the shimmering waters along the shores of this unforgettable city. Rose gold trim and a 14k rose gold-plated nib add to the image of luxury, perfect for a town known for attracting aristocrats, celebrities, and artists since the 19th century.

The Nice has the Slip & Seal cap mechanism to prevent ink loss due to evaporation for up to 24 months. The newly redesigned nib made from 14kt gold with rhodium plating is available in F, M, and B widths and allows for a smooth and consistent pen stroke for a truly memorable writing experience.

Platinum's nibs are remarkably consistent, offering moderate ink flow and a smooth writing sensation. Choose from sizes Fine, Medium, or Broad.

The Fine nib can accept all nib customizations but line variation will be minimal with the thickest stroke measuring approximately 0.3mm. Any grinds (stub, architect, etc.) will result in a writing experience that feels sharp, and potentially scratchy for those not used to using such a narrow nib.

If choosing the Curved Architect grind, the Platinum Coarse or Sailor Zoom nibs will provide the best results. The Curved Architect grind is functionally identical to the Naginata-Togi and Goccia nibs offered by other brands and is in no way associated with those brands.

SLIP & SEAL MECHANISM

It has normally been thought difficult to make an airtight pen with a screw-type cap. If not sealed tightly, the following problems can result:

  1. Ink drying out due to moisture evaporation.
  2. Problems with dried ink if the pen is not used for three to six months.
  3. It can be necessary to clean the pen using the Platinum Ink Cleaner Kit or even to repair or replace the nib itself if the damage due to dried ink is too severe.

At the request of customers, Platinum Pen Company have gone back to the basics to deal with this problem. This is the first fountain pen which has their unique “Slip & Seal” structure in a pen with a screw-type cap. Thanks to this innovation, currently being patented, it is possible to have a screw-type cap with complete airtightness.

The innovative cap contains a unique “Slip & Seal” mechanism that prevents ink from drying out in the pen. Meanwhile, a newly redesigned nib and feed regulate the ink flow. Founded in 1919, Platinum Pens is now nearing a full century of achievement.
