Created by Swiss industrial designer Hannes Wettstein, the LAMY studio has won multiple awards and combines high functionality and writing comfort with a form reminiscent of modern sculpture.
Heidelberg, February 2012. For those who like to see the world from a different angle the LAMY studio is the ideal companion. High-quality materials and classic yet modern lines melt into an artistic yet highly functional writing instrument for the individualists among us.
The design for the LAMY studio was created by Hannes Wettstein, one of the most innovative and influential designers of Switzerland. Many of his works received numerous awards and are considered iconic in the design world. Wettstein, who passed away in 2008, created designs governed by a combination of functionality and aesthetics, making it fit seamlessly into Lamy’s Bauhaus style. For the LAMY studio, the designer chose calm forms in combination with exceptional details. With this piece, he succeeded in a new interpretation of the classic fountain pen motive.
The highlight: A clip with a twist
The LAMY studio’s characteristic, polished metal clip is an eye-catcher. The clip is gently twisted, thus making this writing instrument a work of art in design yet still perfect for daily use. That’s why it is still today a truly distinguishing feature and the highlight of the LAMY studio. The generous cylindrical metal body caresses the hand and thus provides an outstanding writing experience. The high-gloss chrome-plated ends provide an optical frame and a harmonic sense of closure for the writing instrument.
A wide variety of finishes are also available: matte stainless steel as well as imperial blue, and black. And especially for lovers of high-quality fountain pens: the LAMY studio with refined palladium finish, platinum grey coal finish as well as completely platinum-refined and glossy surface.
The LAMY studio is one hundred percent “Made in Germany” – as are all Lamy products from Heidelberg.
