Created by pursuing a transparency like clear waters, this new fountain pen has been named after Oshino Hakkai, which is a famous destination for the beautiful springs sourced from the underground water of Mount Fuji.

The Platinum 3776 Century OSHINO fountain pen is normally only available with a fine, medium, or broad nib, but the Nibsmith is proud to offer the Oshino in 7 different widths! Choose from EF, F, SF, M, SM, B, or Coarse (Double Broad). Each nib will be inspected, tested, and customized to customer’s preferences at no additional charge. The Coarse nib is one of the best candidates available on the market for achieving maximum line variation with a custom architect grind.

The 3776 Century line features the innovative, patented-pending “Slip & Seal” inner cap mechanism that prevents the ink from drying out in the nib for up to 24 months.

SLIP & SEAL MECHANISM

It has normally been thought difficult to make an airtight pen with a screw-type cap. If not sealed tightly, the following problems can result:

Ink drying out due to moisture evaporation.
Problems with dried ink if the pen is not used for three to six months.
It can be necessary to clean the pen using the Platinum Ink Cleaner Kit or even to repair or replace the nib itself if the damage due to dried ink is too severe.

At the request of customers, Platinum Pen Company have gone back to the basics to deal with this problem. This is the first fountain pen which has their unique “Slip & Seal” structure in a pen with a screw-type cap. Thanks to this innovation, currently being patented, it is possible to have a screw-type cap with complete airtightness.

The innovative cap contains a unique “Slip & Seal” mechanism that prevents ink from drying out in the pen. Meanwhile, a newly redesigned nib and feed regulate the ink flow. This was my first Platinum pen and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. The nib is smooth and responsive, and the overall look of the pen is beautiful. I especially liked the Mt. Fuji embellishment on the cap finial. The complimentary tune and smooth on the nib provided a glass smooth writing experience on par with pens in a much higher price range.

Received this pen with a custom architect grind, done by Dan himself. Incredible writer out of the box, he did a phenomenal job. Pen is awesome, and with the special grind specific to my grip and pen angle makes it a favorite right away. Wonderful buying experience, would highly recommend!
